WDFL ROUND UP WEEK 12

Sunday 18 November, 2018

Goals from Oak Apples Tyler Attwood, Joey Haines, Rainer Wilson and Adam Harris secured a 4-0 win over Northside and ensured Oak remained top and unbeaten in the Premier.  Hot on Oaks heels are reigning champions Callow End who beat Arrow away 5-1.    Ash Millard and Nick MacPherson both bagged doubles for Callow.  Not far behind Callow are Perrywood who beat Northside 4-2.  A Will Stallard hat-trick ensured a comfortable victory for Worcester Athletic who beat St Johns 5-2 away from home.

With FC United not playing this weekend, Pillar took back top spot in division 1 after a hat-trick from Joshua Weatherby and a Kevin Owens brace secured a comfortable 6-1 away win over Express Falcons.  A double from Aaron Smith and a strike from Courtney Bray meant FC Malvern remain unbeaten after they visited and beat FC Korono 3-1.   Colwall St James poor form continued as they lost 2-0 to visitors Malvern Vale.  Curis Williams and Ellis Golding were on target for the Vale.  Struggling Eaton took all 3 points from Drakes Broughton despite playing the whole second half with only ten men.  Steve Pitt was on hand in the last 10 minutes to secure a much-needed win for the visitors.

Unsurprisingly Colwall Wanderers returned to winning ways and they took last week’s defeat out on hosts Worcester Saints, with a Ben Febery hat-trick contributing to a 6-2 away win.  Also dishing out punishment this weekend were Hornets, where a hat-trick from Jake Wilkinson and a brace each for Frederick Harrison and Jon Speak secured a stinging 8-2 victory over Lower Teme & Martley Athletic.  Rifleman’s kept Kempsey Colts United second from bottom as they rolled out 3-1 winners.  The battle of the Droitwich Spa’s was a closely fought contest, but it was the Rovers who sent the Eagles flying home with no points after a 3-2 victory.

Powick were the latest team to give their goal difference a significant boost this weekend as they visited rock-bottom Eaton Reserves.  Five from Leon Roberts and a hat-trick from Damien Hill made up 8 of the 14! goals scored.  A strike from Jake David Monk ensured the visitors didn’t leave with a clean sheet.   New Dales remain top of division 3 after they hammered hosts AFC Brickfields 6-2.  Garry Smith and Rik Halion both bagged doubles for Dales.  A Darren Palmer brace helped Grosvenor Sports remain fourth who won 4-2 away to Drakes Broughton Rangers Reserves.  In the second battle of the Droitwich Spa’s it was Town who completed a good weekend for Droitwich Spa BGFC as they thrashed Eagles Reserves 5-1 away from home.  Oliver Price with a brace for Town.  Lower Teme & Martley Reserves leap frogged their opponents Worcester Saints Reserves thanks to a hat-trick from Matthew Gardner to seal a 3-1 at Jury field.

On rearranged county Cup duty were Blackpole Sports and they had a worthwhile trip to South Birmingham FC rolling out 4-2 winners with Martin Fowler scoring a brace and a goal apiece for Michael Jeffries and Jason Payne.
